At the end of 2025 I was happy to take a long break to enjoy the incredible summers that the southern hemisphere provides. I’m back and writing my first post in 2026 which also happens to be my last post for the AWS News Blog (more on this later). The AWS community is starting the […]

Since a preview launch at AWS re:Invent 2025, we’re announcing the general availability of new memory-optimized Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) X8i instances. These instances are powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors with a sustained all-core turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz, available only on AWS. These SAP certified instances deliver the highest performance […]

Deutsch | English | Español | Français | Italiano As a European citizen, I understand first-hand the importance of digital sovereignty, especially for our public sector organisations and highly regulated industries. Today, I’m delighted to share that the AWS European Sovereign Cloud is now generally available to all customers. We first announced our plans to […]

As enterprises scale artificial intelligence initiatives in 2026, reliance on centralized cloud infrastructure is being tested by latency, bandwidth, and operational constraints. Leaders across industries are realizing that traditional cloud-first strategies are not sufficient for time-sensitive, AI-driven operations. Instead, edge computing is emerging as a strategic enabler, allowing AI systems to process data locally, respond […]

At the beginning of January, I tend to set my top resolutions for the year, a way to focus on what I want to achieve. If AI and cloud computing are on your resolution list, consider creating an AWS Free Tier account to receive up to $200 in credits and have 6 months of risk-free […]

In this episode of the CloudTweaks Podcast, host Steve Prentice speaks with Maxim Melamedov – CEO and Co-Founder of Zesty about why Kubernetes has become central to modern cloud, data, and AI workloads, and why it also introduces significant operational and financial challenges. The discussion breaks down how Kubernetes enables scale while increasing complexity around […]

Cloud adoption has matured rapidly over the last decade. Enterprises now operate complex, multi-account, multi-service cloud environments that support mission-critical workloads. While this scale delivers flexibility and speed, it also introduces a persistent challenge: controlling cloud costs without sacrificing performance or innovation. Traditional cloud optimization approaches, such as periodic audits, static rules, and manual cost […]

As organizations rush to harness the full potential of Generative AI (GenAI), they are recognizing that responsible experimentation at scale requires a controlled approach. This strategic necessity is driving the widespread adoption of cloud-based GenAI sandboxes, that provide an isolated environment for learning, prototyping, and testing of GenAI products, before moving to production. Because of […]

Sometimes we get so stuck in the weeds that we forget to apply normal common sense, especially to heady cybersecurity principles. Luckily, this one isn’t so heady: it’s just so obvious that we don’t see it anymore. We’re talking about alert fatigue, and why more companies don’t start there instead of levying hefty investments downstream […]

Happy New Year! I hope the holidays gave you time to recharge and spend time with your loved ones. Like every year, I took a few weeks off after AWS re:Invent to rest and plan ahead. I used some of that downtime to plan the next cohort for Become a Solutions Architect (BeSA). BeSA is […]
